Visit Venice from Rome by train

Walking through the narrow streets with our guide, you will breathe the atmosphere of a fairytale and suddenly you will find yourself in the living room of Venice, Piazza San Marco, where tourists and Venetians meet. The Bell Tower, 99 meters long, is the exact copy of the one that suddenly collapsed in 1902. It was used by Galileo as a platform for his telescope experiments and is the symbol of Venice, together with St Mark’s Basilica. The latter seems to come out of a Byzantine fable. It was built, in fact, with the plundering of the booty of Constantinople, to house another booty stolen in Alexandria, the relics of St. Mark. Its beauty is unique, despite the total lack of architectural unity, starting with the magnificent mosaics above the portal. The interior will amaze you even more and, among other treasures, you will appreciate the incredible Golden Altarpiece. At the top of the Clock Tower, two bronze “Moors” mark the hours, with the same mechanism, since the 15th century.

In the square, there is the Ducal Palace. Once the residence of the Doge, governor of the old Serenissima Republic, its oriental style bears witness to Byzantine influences.
